Wendy Hall organized
Adirondack Habitat Awareness Day to celebrate the beauty of Wilmington,
and to inaugurate the Adirondack Wildlife Refuge &
Rehabilitation center. The weather cooperated, and a fine time
was had by all, walking the wildlife refuge nature trail, socializing
and listening to the
presentations. Beth Bidwell, of the Wildlife Institute of Eastern New
York, fascinated the guests, with a colorful and informative
presentation of Adirondacks birds of prey and other local wildlife.
Darrell Austen of Tri-Lakes landscaping, discussed responsible
forestry, and how to propogate and care for trees. Rarilee Conway, New York State Director for
Personal Ponies, a not-for-profit charitable organization,
brought two of her ponies with her, to the delight of the kids. Alex
Hall tussled and posed with Cree the wolf-hybrid. Michele Buck and
Jessie Kenyon photographed the event. Wendy plans a second
program for the Fall, involving the Adirondack Loon Program. |
